Custom joinery is essentially any fitted cabinetry that is not a kitchen, wardrobe or bathroom vanity: alcove shelving beside a fireplace, window seats, understair storage, mudroom benches, banquette seating, library and display walls, hallway cabinets and robe fit-outs. If it is built into the fabric of the room and made to measure rather than bought as a finished unit, it is joinery. On the Central Coast the most common jobs are alcove units, window seats over the water views and understair storage, but if you can describe how you want a space to work, we can design and build it.

Yes, in most cases. We can match a timber species and stain, colour-match a two-pac polyurethane finish to existing paintwork, or select a melamine or laminate that sits alongside your current kitchen or built-ins. An exact match to old, faded timber is harder because timber ages and changes colour, so we are honest about how close we can realistically get and will show you samples before we build. For heritage cottages we can also copy shaker or beaded detailing so new joinery reads as though it has always been there.

Not at all, it is exactly what custom joinery is for. Many Coast homes, especially the older fibro and weatherboard cottages around Woy Woy, Umina and Long Jetty, have settled out of square over the decades. We build the cabinet itself dead square, then scribe the end panels and fillers on install to follow your actual wall line and pack the unit level, holding gaps to within about 2mm. A flatpack cannot do this, which is why it leaves visible gaps against a bowed wall. The wonkier the house, the more a scribed custom build is worth it.

We build the carcases and components in our Gosford workshop, where we have the machinery to cut and finish accurately, then bring them to your home to assemble, scribe and install. Building off-site means cleaner work, better finishing and far less dust and disruption in your house. On install day we fit the units to the wall, scribe them tight, level everything and fit the doors, drawers and hardware. For very large runs we install in sections so the finished result reads as one continuous piece.
